Like many countries, India too is taking strict and immediate measures to fight the corona virus.
The Indian government has taken an important decision to counter the rapid spread of coronavirus. Ministry of Health and Aviation has issued several notifications one after the other. After part of prevention, India will isolate itself from the whole world for the next one month. The objective is to control human to human spread of virus. Shortly after the decision of the Government of India, the World Health Organization declared the corona virus (Covid-19) an epidemic.
The Indian government has suspended the visas of people coming from any country of the world till 15th April 2020. This ban will not be applicable to employees associated with the United Nations, diplomatic matters and important officials associated with government projects. Apart from this, no one else can enter the country.
On Wednesday evening, Health Minister Harshvardhan reviewed the status of Covid-19. He raised concerns about corona cases in India and the rest of the world. Now this virus has spread to more than 100 countries. In India also the number of infected people has exceeded 50. Therefore, it was essential for the government to take a big decision, it was decided that India will isolate itself from the world to save a large population from being infected further. The government decisions will come into effect from midnight of 13th March 2020. On Wednesday, ten new cases of corona virus were reported in India. With this, the number of infected people increased to 60. Of the six new cases, four have been found in Bengaluru and one in Pune. They all returned to India after travelling to America or Dubai. 1400 people who had come in contact with infected people have been kept in isolation ward.
Indians living abroad will have to remain isolated for 14 days. On Wednesday night 11th March 2020, Air India has announced temporary suspension of flights to Rome, Milan and Seoul. According to an Air India official, the services to Rome (Italy) will be closed from 15th March 2020 to 25th March 2020, flights to Milan (Italy) and the capital of South Korea will be suspended from 14th March 2020 to 28th March 2020. At the same time, travellers coming to India directly from China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, France, Spain and Germany or have travel history to these countries after 15th February 2020 will be kept isolated for at least 14 days.
